History
The Student Counseling Center was established on April 1, 1980, in accordance with National Taiwan Normal University Directives for the Establishment of the Student Counseling Center. The directors of the Center have all been concurrently served by professors or associate professors from the Department of Educational Psychology and Counseling. Past directors include Dr. Kun-Huei Liu (April 1980 – July 1988), Dr. Shuh-Ren Jin (August 1988 – July 1991), Dr. Ping-Hwa Chen (August 1991 – July 1993), Dr. Pei-Li Wu (August 1993 – August 1994), and Dr. Li-Chou Chen (September 1994 – July 2004).
Following the amendments to the University Charter in the 97th University Council meeting on January 31, 2007, the Center became affiliated with the Office of Student Affairs, starting August, 1, 2007. Subsequent past directors include Dr. Chia-Hsin Lin (August 2004 – July 2008), Dr. Hsueh-Chun Fan (August 2008 – July 2010), Dr. Li-Chou Chen (August 2010 – July 2013), Dr. Hsiu-Lan Tien (August 2013 – July 2016), Dr. Hsiu-Jung Chen (August 2016 – July 2019), Dr. Hsiu-Lan Tien (August 2019 – July 2020), Dr. Yu-Chen Wang (August 2020 – July 2022), and Dr. Min-Pei Lin (August 2022 – July 2023). The current director is Dr. Chao-Mei Chiang (August 2023 –).

Mission and Vision
The Student Counseling Center is committed to a student-centered and holistic approach to student development. We respect and affirm each student's diverse and intersecting sociocultural backgrounds and identities. Through case management, psychological consultation, individual counseling, group counseling, psychological assessment, peer support, resource coordination, and interdisciplinary collaboration, we promote students' mental well-being and holistic development, accompanying students in learning with confidence, living healthy lives, and realizing their full potential.
